The Centre for the Study of Human Development (CSHD) is an independent research centre for the study of the various dimensions of human development. It was established in the year 2000, under the direction of Professor B.N. Ghosh and Dr. Parvesh K. Chopra. The centre organises seminars and conferences on the issues surrounding human development.

It is also publishing a journal - The 'International Journal Of Human Development', Edited by Professor B.N. Ghosh; Managing Editor Dr. P.K. Chopra - this is on a bi-annual basis at present. The editorial board includes many distinguished international scholars including, Ashok Mathur, Phillip O'Hara, M.A. Choudhury, and Gale Summerfield. The first issue of the journal will be devoted to poverty and income distribution, subsequent issues will be devoted to leading issues in the areas of human development.

The aim of the centre is to publish research-oriented studies either by our own staff or by international scholars in the form of working papers, monographs and books. The Centre also offers consultancy services to various types of organisations on human resource
development. Our official publisher is Wisdom House Publications, England. As the activities of the centre expand in both depth and range, we hope to employ several full-time scholars specialising in the study of human development.

Gender and Development - Edited book in two volumes, due out in September 2001

The Poverty Series - a look at poverty in a variety of countries - Edited book in ten volumes

Country Studies in Education and Economic Development - In ten volumes

Facts About Asian Migration in to the United Kingdom

Country Series in Brain Drain - Research work in five volumes
